Still Spinning
I have been doing some more drop spindle spinning and have done one 2ply yarn of blue and lavender and am working on a 2ply lavender to use for a lace bookmark. When I get a chance to take some pictures I will post them for all to see.

Tomorrow is a scheduled day of knitting on my Hogwarts Socks Swap Pal's socks. I have a feeling I am going to be pushing the deadline since I have gotten into this spinning thing. I am hoping that I will spend a week knitting on the socks and get them finished but you know us knitters. How many of you only have one project going at a time. Wish me luck!

Drop Spindle Spinning
I bought a drop spindle and some roving about 2 months ago and really never got going on it. I made two attempts and wasn't impressed with my spinning skills so I set it aside for a month. Two days ago I got it back out and made the third attempt. Well, I am so impressed. I am spinning almost thread like yarn to make a 2ply lace weight yarn. I am not sure how I managed it but all of a sudden it made sense to me.

I am so excited that it is coming together. I am hoping that sometime after November I will be getting a wheel. If that is as much fun and relaxing as a drop spindle, then I will have a blast.

Storms Again!
Thank goodness the storms that went through about an hour ago were just severe thunderstorms. We were concerned about tornados again because it was hot and muggy. Then the wind started, temperature dropped, and the rain started up. We were waiting to see if the hot and cold air would start spinning. When we only received the thunderstorms we were relieved.

Hogwarts Yarn Dyed
I have the yarn dyed for the socks I am working on for my pal Doris Dumbledore. I am working in gold and burgundy because she is a Gryffindor student. I am hoping that she likes them I have them started and am working on the two color design. I was making the floats to tight so they didn't stretch that well. I am going to try again now that I have it ripped back. Hopefully it will com out correct this time. I have been designing the sock as I go, so it has been pulled out several times.

Have to make it perfect for Doris!

Pictures to come.

Yeah! Power
Well folks, I live in the muggle town of Fenton Michigan less than 1/4 mile from where the evil tornado spell hit on Friday night. Muggle illuminating ceased to exist. They closed the freeway exits to our town and limited traffic to only cleared areas. We had an 8:00pm curfew on the entire town. The town lost most of its 100 year old Aspens, Oaks, and Maples. Power lines down everywhere. The entire town was without power and we were told that it wouldn't be on until Monday at midnight. Emergency crews and volunteers from everywhere came in to help clear the area, fix houses, clear houses that were to damaged to save. Power crews from several counties and states came in and in 24 hours we had our power.Everything is back on track and the knitting continues!

Projects
I have several projects going right now. I am working on a simple lace shawl for Ewe To You Yarns. I am using Ella Rae "Silkience" a DK weight that has a slight shine to it. The next project(s) of course are socks. I have a pair of socks going for me which are made of Jitterbug by Collinette. Nice and bright to shock people. Then I am working on my Hogwarts Sock Swap Pal's socks. Couldn't find the colors I wanted so I decided to dye some bare yarn. I have the pattern and ready to start them today. It shouldn't take too long to knit them up.

I am also trying to learn to spin on a drop spindle. I don't quite have the drafting figured out but not doing to bad for the amount of time I have been able to spend at it.

Trying to get my Christmas knitting list together. I know that I at least have to do 2 stockings for the grandchildren. I am not sure what I am going to do for the rest of my family and friends but I have to come up with something.

Off to knitting and the yarn shop. Hopefully only to knit and not to buy anymore yarn. I have way too much to do already...

Hogwarts Sock Swap
I received the yarn to start my pal's socks. I have some Gloss by Knitpicks and some bare yarn. I received the dye so I think tomorrow I am going to try dying the yarn and see if I can achieve the colors I want for her socks. I have a little extra yarn so I might be able to do a redo on one of the colors if I get the color wrong.

I am hoping to get started on her socks by the weekend. It will take a couple of days for the yarn to dry and then I will start her socks. Can't wait to get going.

Hogwarts Socks

I am waiting for some bare yarn to show up so I can dye it for my sock pal. I wish it would hurry and show up because I am anxious to get started. I already know that I am behind some of the people. Some are already on the foot section of their socks.

Hopefully the pair of socks will go smoothly without any glitches. I need all the time I can get.

New Project
I have started a shawl using Ella Rae Silkience. It is a soft, shiny yarn. It does have a tendency to split so its not for the beginner. I am using a simple pattern from Fiber Trends just called Edged in Lace. It is a garter stitch square shawl with for different types of lace edges to select. I might change the pattern some so that it includes some lace on the inside of the shawl. It depends on how the shop wants to use the shawl.
